Children, Youth, and Family Ministries

Through a variety of activities and experiences, St. John the Baptist seeks to offer opportunities for children, youth, and families to grow in faith and build community.

First Sunday Gatherings

On the first Sunday evening of each month, children and their families gather at St. John’s from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. for education, food, and fellowship. This time is an excellent opportunity to connect with other families in our community.

Growth Through Service

During the fall and spring, children participate in the 10:30 a.m. worship service by assisting the ushers and reading Scripture appropriate to their age. A children’s sermon is usually offered at these services as well. Activity bags are available during worship each week for children in preschool through elementary grades.

Teen members at St. John the Baptist are encouraged to grow through service by assisting with the educational activities at the First Sunday gatherings, scripture reading during services, and participating in projects for local nonprofits.

In addition, the Diocese of Colorado offers youth retreats and service opportunities. St. John the Baptist provides financial assistance to make these experiences accessible to any youth member who wishes to attend.

Confirmation

Teens may be confirmed once they reach 15 years of age. The Children, Youth, and Family Ministries coordinator works with youth who wish to be confirmed individually or in small groups using materials designed to prepare teens to enrich their understanding of faith and commitment in the Episcopal Church.
