Worship with us during Holy Week
St. John’s 2026 Holy Week Worship Services
The services of Holy Week and Easter – the pinnacle of our liturgical year – reach far back into the Christian memory. And memory is certainly part of what this season is about: having walked closely with Jesus through the wilderness of Lent, we will cross the final, most difficult distance, staying with him through the last supper, the agony in the garden, the injustice of his trial and execution, and his resurrection after three days in the tomb.
We are followers of Jesus. In these days, we learn from him love, and faith, and hope, and joy. I hope you’ll join us for as many of the Holy Week services as your busy lives allow.
Palm Sunday, March 29th
Celebrates Jesus’ triumphal entrance into Jerusalem, and also prepares us for the trials that lay ahead as we hear Luke’s Passion (from the Latin passio, meaning “to suffer”).

Maundy Thursday, April 2nd
(from the Latin mandatum, or “commandment”) marks the first day of the Easter Triduum – the three-day observance at the heart of Holy Week. Our Maundy Thursday Eucharist will include an optional foot-washing, as well as the stripping of the altar and the removal of the reserve sacrament to a symbolic “Garden of Repose.”
6:30pm Holy Eucharist with Foot-Washing
Good Friday, April 3rd
Three services will be offered:
12:00pm - Proper Liturgy with Veneration of the Cross and Communion from Reserve Sacrament
1:15pm - Stations of the Cross - a meditative journey through the Stations of the Cross in our nave
6:30pm - Proper Liturgy with Veneration of the Cross
Following these services, the church will remain closed and dark until Saturday night, as we remember Christ’s death and his descent among the dead.
