Renovation Update 7/19/2020
As Charlie stated in a previous eBlast, the diocesan Standing Committee approved our new financing proposal. Our intrepid "Money Man", Wally Ducayet, has met with 1st Bank and supplied the needed documents to complete the construction loan paperwork. We're all hoping to close the loan on Tuesday, July 21. Thanks to Wally for all of his most excellent efforts in finalizing our financing!
The trees came down yesterday! (See photos below.) This is a necessary step in getting ready for "The Big Dig". Nate and Wally met with the Town of Breckenridge Planning Department and Building Department on Wednesday afternoon. (See photo above.) They walked through the church and discussed the methods, process, and timeline for the restoration of our historic building. This was the final condition before the release of the building permit, a standard procedure with major projects that involve "historicity"! Because the church is a historical structure, the town was concerned that once we lift the church off the ground for the "Big Dig" we could potentially lose the exact location-elevation on which it is currently sitting. On Thursday, we completed the survey to ensure that where the current foundation is will be the baseline for the new foundation. Nate is expecting a call from the Building Department at any time for him to pick up our building permit. And then the fun REALLY begins!
Thanks be to God that we have reached this point!

Yesterday morning was exciting as the trees were removed from around SJB. People came by to check out the activities. Drivers were tolerant of the tree in the street and the guys on the tree crew had it removed almost instantly. The tree team was amazing! Teague arrived with his cast on and was hoisted to cut the big tree on the side of the church. I began saying even more prayers! However, he was awesome. Then I learned that it was his tree company! Ted and I drove by early evening and outside of the barren appearance of the church you would never know that there were remnants of the removed trees everywhere!
Blessings,
Tree Removal day
